If you’re making it your New Year’s resolution to learn a new skill, you can attend lampshade making workshops here on Wednesday, January 10 and 24 from 7pm until 9pm and ‘an introduction to Chalk Paint’ workshops on Monday, January 8, Thursday January 18 and Wednesday, January 31 from 7.30pm until 9.45pm.

Our workshops are a fantastic way for you to learn a new skill and there is no time like a fresh New Year to start.

Our co-owner, Cato will be hosting ‘introduction to Chalk Paint’ workshops, where attendees can learn the basics of using Autentico Chalk Paint and waxes. She will teach you how to paint your piece of furniture from start to finish with useful handouts and tips included.

She will provide wooden boards with some detailing, so that you can try out the different paints and she will cover distressing techniques, as well as layering. Everyone who goes along will then be able to take their new skills home with them and makeover their furniture.

Materials such as paints, brushes, boards to paint, waxes, an apron and gloves will be provided in the workshop price as well as refreshments and a picture frame for attendees to paint and take home.

Pippa Brewer, who owns the Toodlepip shop, will be hosting lampshade making workshops on January 10 and 24.

She said: “Attendees to my lampshade workshops will learn how to make their own 30cm lampshade that can be a used as a pendant or on a lamp. All people need to bring with them is a minimum of half a metre of their chosen fabric.

“The lampshades can be made with cotton, linen or upholstery fabric, as long as it is not too thick. There will also be a selection of fabrics available to purchase on the night.”
