Interior trends for autumn/winter 2016

Posted by Cherry Pullinger on

We’ll be ending the year pretty much as it started in terms of the trends set to dominate the world of interiors with wools, tweeds and knits bringing a very cosy feel to our homes as autumn advances to winter.

It’s not all about making big investments but more about selecting some new accessories, fabrics and cushions that hit the right note.

And the emphasis is very much, this season, on making our homes practical as well as relaxing. It’s all about choosing well and realising it doesn’t have to cost the earth.

If you’re doing a little redecorating, then think restful hues. When it comes to painting, embrace muted shades of blue, green, purple, mushroom and pink.

These colours also lend themselves perfectly to simple and individual accessories that can bring real character to your home.

For those who want a little more clout in their colours, look out for the primary trend of red, blue and yellow.

Retro and vintage products continue to be popular too and up-cycling is a trend we heartily encourage, whether you DIY or pop in and ask us for help. It’s all about working with what you have, buying appropriately and being individual.

Take a good look at the furniture you already have at home and before thinking about getting something new to replace a piece, why not ask yourself a few candid questions.

Perhaps that sideboard or chest of drawers isn’t as old as you first thought? Could you use it somewhere different to greater effect? Could it benefit from a lick of paint and new door handles? All food for thought!

Not sure what to do next? Pop in and have a chat with us. We supply all you need to be able to revamp your piece of furniture paint and door furniture-wise, or we can do it for you.
