We’re inviting you to see our Christmas lights be officially switched on by Taunton Deane MP Rebecca Pow and a VIP member of the community.
The Christmas light switch on will take place here on November 3 from 6pm until 9pm and will be in aid of S.U.R.E, which is our Charity of the Year.
Rebecca Pow, MP for Taunton Deane, said: “I am a big fan of The Emporium Somerset and I believe it is just the kind of business we need in the local area, so I was thrilled to be asked to officially switch on its Christmas lights and I hope lots of people come along for the festivities and to raise money for charity.”
We asked the local community for nominations of people who could help Rebecca turn on the lights and we had lots of suggestions but we’ll be keeping the special guest under wraps until the big day.
The chosen VIP will assist Rebecca with the official switching on and we will present them with a gorgeous Christmas wreath, kindly donated by our trader The Flower Tree.
The shop will be decked out in festive decorations for the evening and trader’s units will be personally decorated too.
During the event, there will be prosecco and mince pies for attendees in return for a donation to S.U.R.E.
S.U.R.E is a registered, independent charity based in Taunton. Its objective is to raise funds to help provide top class cancer diagnosis and treatment at the Cancer Centre known as the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
S.U.R.E has already committed to funding more than £70,000 of projects at the Beacon Centre in 2016 with a further £40,000 of projects waiting for final quotes before they can be confirmed. This includes providing a new Cancer Patient Counselling Centre in a separate building near to the Beacon Centre and the equipment to provide a dedicated single number Cancer Patient Telephone Advice Line.
The Hope Choir will also be singing a selection of songs on the night from 7pm and collecting for S.U.R.E.
We hope lots of you can join us for this very special evening.
