Cato’s key living room trends for the season

Posted by Cato Cooper on

I am always excited when a new season rolls around as it means we can give our interiors a bit of an update and refresh. I am very happy that grey is still playing a big part in SS18 trends for living rooms as it’s such an easy colour to work with. It’s the ‘go-to’ shade for neutral decorating and can be teamed up with lots of colourful accessories such as cushions and vases, really easily.

With grey walls you can go for bright, bold sofa or chair colours or even colourful/patterned rugs.

Other key colours for 2018 are navy, emerald green and violet. This year’s Pantone colour of the Year is Ultra Violet after all.

Navy and deep shades of violet are great for bringing a brooding vibe to your room. They can be used on the walls or a feature wall or you could have a go at upcycling a piece of furniture with a navy or violet shade. Alternatively, if you don’t fancy getting your paintbrushes out, you could incorporate the shades into your accessories.

Another trend this year that I’m a big fan of is the ‘global’ look. Lots of earthy shades, terracotta and clay textures and patterns reminiscent of those seen in places such as Rajasthan.

The trend for tropical print is still going strong and will go right through SS18. Whisk yourself away to paradise with the introduction of large leaf and palm prints, exotic birds and vibrant colours. The colours will help bring lots of energy to a room and leave you feeling re-freshed and ready for summer.
